At Greenfield Lake Amphitheater on September 24th, fans were treated to an electrifying collision of emotional depth and high-energy beats as Nashville, singer-songwriter Briston Maroney took the stage on his Ultrapure Tour. This outdoor venue, nestled among towering trees and the lake, provided an intimate backdrop for an unforgettable performance.

Maroney, known for starting on American Idol when he was 15, eventually delivering 4 Ep’s with his record label. As he grew and gained more and more attention and fans, he released Sunflower (2021). Once Briston hit that stage in Wilmington,, his lyrics and powerful vocal delivery captivated the audience. Opening with his hit single "Body," a fan favorite from his 2023 Album, “Ultrapure,” that immediately set the tone for the night.

Throughout the show, Maroney showcased tracks from his debut albums, Ultrapure and Sunflower, as well as highlights from earlier EPs. Each song was delivered with raw emotion, his raspy yet melodic voice weaving through heartfelt lyrics that explored themes of youth, love, and self-discovery.The setlist was a thoughtfully crafted blend of fan favorites and newer songs, like"Small Talk" and "Sinkin’,” which had the audience singing along and jumping around. Later, when the audience instantly recognized his most popular track, “Freakin’ Out on the Interstate,” from its opening chord, the crowd went wild, which makes sense because it is such a fun song and personally one of my favorites off the album.

As the night came to close, a few notable performances included his pre encore song Caroline, and diving into his encore songs ending the show with June, where the delicate balance of vulnerability and power in his vocals was showcased beautifully. The way Maroney engaged with the audience, sharing anecdotes and insights, made the evening feel personal and inclusive. His warm and charismatic personality created a sense of connection, making everybody feel like they were a part of something very special which is exactly what fans want at their favorite artist’s shows.

Overall, Briston was a mesmerizing blend of emotion, talent, and community. He effortlessly connected with the audience, creating a warm atmosphere that felt both personal and exhilarating. For those lucky enough to attend, including myself,, it was a night to remember, a testament to Maroney’s growing stature in the indie music scene. If this performance is any indication, he is undoubtedly an artist to watch in the years to come, I sure will be!
