Finneas and Bad Suns made their way to the Salt Shed stage in Chicago on Wednesday to perform in front of a sold out crowd.

The night started off with the eclectic energy from Bad Suns. The immediate stage presence the band had was magnetic as the red and purple lights washed over them. You may recognise their song “Cardiac Arrest” or “Daft Pretty Boys”. Bad Suns also just released their newest single “Communicating” at the end of January, which I recommend giving a listen if you are a fan of fun indie summer pop-rock sounds. Their fun indie rock sound is infectious. Fans slowly began warming up and pretty soon you could see heads bobbing and hands in the air as the band moved their way through their set. They did an impressive job at getting the crowd warmed up and ready for Finneas.

Soon smoke filled the stage and Finneas made his way to his keyboard for a beautiful solo moment with his song “Starfucker” before the rest of his band joined him on stage. The beautiful ballad was followed by the energy filled “Lotus Eater” and “Cleats”, and the energy in the shed grew ten fold. Fans were singing along to every word and Finneas’s stage presence was stunning. He didn’t miss a note and his voice sounded, dare I say, angelic. He clearly knew how to take command of the stage and the crowd loved it. Eventually he made his way back to his keys to perform two of my personal favorites of his, “Angel” a beautiful love ballad full of bittersweet tales, and “The Kids Are All Dying” a particularly relevant song that I would suggest everyone listen too, and not just on a surface level, but truly hear the words being sung. The crowd definitely felt it and you could tell the energy shifted to a more melancholy tone. Of course he was able to pick the energy back up and fans were dancing their hearts out as the set continued. He eventually welcomed his keys player to join him at his keyboard to sing along with him on the beautiful duet “Till Forever Falls Apart”, a song he released alongside Ashe back in 2021. The performance eventually came to a close with the title track to his latest album “For Cryin’ Out Loud!”, and fans didn’t waste a single second to get all of their last minute cheers and hand hearts in before Finneas took a final bow and left the fans wanting more.

Finneas sure knows how to put on a fabulous show and I can’t wait to hear his next project.
