“It Should All Just Happen”: Moonwater Soundtracks the Leap of Faith

There is something inherently vulnerable about wanting to believe that something good could actually work. For a Brooklyn indie rock band, Moonwater, that feeling becomes the emotional centerpiece of their latest single. “It Should All Just Happen” is a track that, according to them, is a tale of cautious optimism, pushing through doubt and insecurity to will a relationship that feels too good to be true into reality.
When I first heard this song, I immediately thought of the viral song “I’ll Believe in Anything” by Wolf Parade, from Crave TV’s hit show Heated Rivalry’s soundtrack. That song went viral for a reason. It felt like hope even when you felt hopeless. One listen to that song and you feel like a new person. “It Should All Just Happen” by Moonwater has that same feeling. It carries a similar emotional quality that could resonate with listeners, and with the way things are feeling right now, it’s a hit in my household.
Released as part of the band’s waterfall of singles leading into an upcoming EP this fall, “It Should All Just Happen” captures the complicated feeling of standing on the edge of something that feels almost too good to be true. Instead of surrendering to doubt, which is something we are all familiar with, this song explores what happens when one decides to push through that uncertainty and finally allow yourself to imagine that maybe, just maybe, things can fall into place.
That idea gives the track an emotional tension that feels particularly relatable. It was released August 11, 2026, which, in my opinion, was the perfect time to put a song like this out. August symbolizes the end of summer and the transition into fall. End of one story and the beginning of another, whether that’s going to a different school or college, starting a new job, or, for me personally, a new season of uncertainty. Trying to use my bachelor's degree to achieve my dream of working in the music industry.
This single also arrives at an important point in Moonwater’s trajectory. Moonwater’s debut record surpassed 100,000 streams and earned coverage from outlets including Ladygunn and Too Much Love. Their live momentum has also continued to build, with the band selling more than 125 tickets at Night Club 101 and earning opening slots for artists including Malcolm Todd and Hot Like Mars.
For Moonwater, they seem more interested in that space between optimistic and everything will work out, those two feelings, and the moment when you want to trust another person, but your own insecurities keep asking you to take a step back.
With an EP arriving this fall, “It Should All Just Happen” offers another glimpse into where Moonwater is headed. More than a simple song about romance, it is about confronting those inner doubts that tell you that you are wasting your time getting your hopes up and choosing to believe anyway.
Sometimes, the most courageous thing you can do is let yourself “want it to be right.”
