Sydney Sprague Releases Catchy Pop Rock Song "Flat Circle
by Kelsie Barlow | July 16th, 2025
On June 25th, 2025, Phoenix born artist Sydney Sprague released her new single Flat Circle, the third single to come off her album Peak Experience which will be released on September 26th. I first heard Flat Circle in a TikTok promotion made by Sydney and it caught my ear immediately. The bright yet grungy guitars and the hypnotically smooth tone of her voice stopped me mid scroll, and prompted me to look up and listen to the full song. I fell in love with the reflective nature of the song and related to the undertones of anxiety and longing to be understood.
The title of the song being Flat Circle makes sense with the lyrics. There is a philosophical concept that time is a flat circle, meaning that all events experienced in life will at some point repeat themselves in an infinite loop. The song opens up with the lyrics “What if this was in the past? What if time’s supposed to be flat? If I throw it in a circle, will I ever get it back?” I love how Sydney explores this theory in the song, and how time relates to the choices we make and the regrets we have. Being in my mid twenties in this day and age has caused me to have many moments of existential dread, and how the time I’m spending now is something I will never get back. It feels like Sprague really sees me through these lyrics, and is relating to all of the other twenty-somethings who hold a lot of anxiety with this topic.
Sydney Sprague, before releasing Flat Circle, put out two other singles from her future album called As Scared As Can Be and Fair Field. The song "As Scared As Can Be" showcased relatably anxious lyrics like “I'm so small and as scared as can be. I taste salt. Pretty sure that you hate me. I'm so caught up, I can't fall asleep.” Both of these singles adhere to the pop-rock vibe of Flat Circle and set the stage for a cohesive and headbanging album. The Peak Experience vinyl is available on Sydney Sprague’s website, and the album is now open for pre-save on streaming platforms.
Sydney Sprague will be going on a headline tour this fall, supported by Gabrielle Grace. The tour kicks off in Oklahoma City on 10/24 and concludes in Austin, TX on 11/22. She’ll be hitting other cities such as Madison, WI, Pittsburgh, PA, and Nashville, TN. All information on her tour dates, merchandise, and her upcoming album can be found on her website. Sydney Sprague’s music sounds like it could be pulled right out of a coming-of-age movie. I’m entranced by how relatable her lyrics are and obsessed with the moody and fun instrumentals. Do yourself a favor, and give Sydney Sprague’s music a listen to find one of your new favorite songs.
