“MASSACRE” ensues in ALYK’s new horror-centric single

ALYK is a triple threat: a musician, makeup artist, and tattooist. The creative channels her inner ‘alt ghoul’ through her passions, most recently in her new single “MASSACRE,” released on September 17. In an Instagram post, ALYK noted that the song began as a pitch for the 2027 Terrifier 4 soundtrack, then morphed into one of her favorite musical projects to date. “Horror is a huge part of my personality and I’ll take any excuse to be a lil spooky,” she wrote. The song launched right before the official start of fall, aka spooky season. On the surface, “MASSACRE” is a Halloween-themed tune; conversely, it is a concoction of love turned obsessive.
The song kicks off with haunting production and claims residence in your mind. In the first verse, ALYK sings, “Another precious trophy / Collect your skull and bones / You thought you’d leave me lonely / Pulled you into my control.” She is so fixated on this person that she’ll have them any way possible, even if it’s just their remains.
In the chorus, she sings, “Can't save your soul cause it's mine / Too late you ran out of time.” ALYK declares their deadline has been met; they didn’t choose to be with her.
She continues, “Thought you would make it out alive / But you can't escape the massacre tonight.” ALYK essentially smothers them to death. Her overbearing love and infatuation conclude their story, whether it results in life or death.
In the second verse, ALYK sings “Get off on when you're terrified / It's what the devil does to me.” She is fulfilled by any reaction she can evoke from this person; they don’t give her the time of day and only start to acknowledge her when she’s terrorizing them. They may not be in love with her, but they see her, and that counts as a win.
