Pink Sweat$ brought nothing but good vibes to the Perelman Theater at the Kimmel Center in Philadelphia on March 22nd. Originally planned as a Valentine’s show, the concert was postponed due to the city’s Super Bowl parade, making this the final stop of his tour. The wait was worth it.

The show took place at the Perelman Theater inside the Kimmel Center. The Kimmel Center itself is huge, but the Perelman Theater was smaller than I expected. It made the concert feel more personal, and no matter where you sat, you had a good view. The staff were all super nice and helpful, and I have to mention that the bathrooms were actually clean and spacious. The setup of the building was a little different from what I’m used to, with the ticket box being a level below the lobby, but everything was easy to find.

Before Pink Sweat$ took the stage, Devin Kennedy started the night off with a simple but heartfelt set. Just him and his electric guitar, nothing flashy. I didn’t realize who he was until he sang Poetry, which I love. Eventually was another highlight, and his cover of If I Ain’t Got You was a nice surprise. His set felt really intimate, which was a perfect way to start the night.

The crowd took a little while to fill in, but once they did, the energy was amazing. A lot of people dressed in pink and Pink Sweat$ merch. There were a lot of couples in the audience too. I chatted with some fans before the show, and we all felt a little disappointed about the rescheduling, but everyone agreed it was for the best. The stage was adorable, completely on theme with a giant teddy bear sitting in the background, adding to the warm, cozy vibe.

From the second Pink Sweat$ walked on stage, he made sure the audience felt involved. He was so full of energy and interacted with the crowd constantly. He picked random people to chat with, asking where they were from and who they came with. He let the audience request songs and cracked jokes the whole time. Pink Sweat$ is the kind of artist who makes you feel like you are part of the experience rather than just watching it.

Vocally, Pink Sweat$ sounded just like his recordings. Smooth, effortless, and emotional. One of my favorite moments was Honesty (which also happens to be my all-time favorite Pink Sweat$ song). He switched up the arrangement a little, making the first verse feel slower and even more R&B, then brought back the snapping sound in the second verse. It felt fresh but still familiar. Another standout moment was when he asked if anyone came with their partner. A couple in the audience mentioned they were getting married soon, so he sang 17 for them and had the whole crowd turn on their flashlights while they slow danced. It was such a sweet and romantic moment.

Pink Sweat$ also threw in a few covers throughout the night, but the ones that stood out the most were Let Me Love You by Mario and Everything’s Gonna Be Alright by Bob Marley. He actually sang Everything’s Gonna Be Alright twice, once earlier in the show and then again at the very end, getting the whole crowd to sing along with him. It was the perfect way to close out the night.

One thing I really appreciated was how much love Pink Sweat$ showed his band. He took his time introducing them and gave every member a solo moment. It is not something every artist does, and it makes the whole show feel even more special.

By the end of the night, I was completely sold. This was for sure one of the best concerts I have been to in a while. Pink Sweat$ has an amazing stage presence, the crowd was great, and the whole show felt like a celebration. If he comes back on tour, I am definitely going again.
