Grand National Tour Announcement
by Nyah Lin | January 6th, 2025
Following the release of the GNX, Kendrick Lamar and SZA announced their joint Grand National Tour. Set to start in Minnesota on April 19, the tour stops in big cities like Los Angeles, San Francisco, Chicago, and Seattle before wrapping up on June 18 in Washington, D.C. This stadium tour has a capacity of over 1.3 million seats in stadiums across 16 states including MetLife and SoFi.
The release of the album sent it straight to the top of the charts, reaching number 1 on the Billboard 200. All 12 songs on the album have made the charts, occupying the top 5 spots. The Grand National name comes from the opening line of the seventh track on GNX, ‘tv off’ with Lefty Gunplay. The album also has features from SZA, Dody6, Wallie the Sensei, Siete7x, Roddy Ricch, AzChike, Hitta J3, YoungThreat, and Peysoh. Fan favorites from the album include ‘luther,’ ‘gloria,’ and ‘squabble up.’
SZA also released 15 additional songs to her SOS album with the release of SOS Deluxe: LANA. This release made headlines, bringing SOS back into the charts 2 years after its release. This was a highly anticipated drop with it being teased during her 2022 tour. Fan favorites from the deluxe include ‘Kitchen,’ ‘Scorsese Baby Daddy,’ and ‘BMF.’
Kendrick Lamar and SZA first met through Top Dawg Entertainment, Kendrick’s former record label. Since then, they have been close friends and collaborators, having multiple songs and performances together. One of their biggest hits was in 2018 with ‘All the Stars’ for Black Panther: The Album. The newest albums, GNX and LANA, added three more, including ‘Luther,’ ‘Gloria,’ and ‘30 For 30.’ This year won't be the first time the two share the stage, having toured together in 2018 for The Championship Tour with Top Dawg Entertainment.
