“Run Run Run” by Madhavi Devi

If 2010s indie pop made a quiet comeback with more heart and less polish, it would sound like “Run Run Run”. It feels like one of those songs you stumble across late at night and end up playing on repeat because something about it just gets you. It opens with this playful little “Are you ready?” and instantly takes you back to that early 2010s indie era, kind of like “comethru” or “Let’s Fall in Love for the Night.” There’s this soft honesty to it, like Madhavi Devi is letting us read straight from her notes app without cleaning anything up.

Lyrically, it’s super cute but also hits in a way that feels personal. One of my favorite lines is “I know love exists because I love.” It’s simple but really powerful, like a reminder that love does not have to be proven or earned, it just exists because we feel it. The whole song feels like a process of growing up and learning to accept yourself. There’s something really relatable about the way she talks about her past. Like how Madhavi “fucking hated” the cops and her high school felt weird, but now she finds herself returning to those old places and seeing herself in the people she loves. It’s honest but also kind, like Madhavi’s not just making peace with who she used to be, but also learning to love who she is now and who she’s still becoming.

The production is minimal, which lets the lyrics breathe. It kind of feels like you are listening to someone think out loud, in the best way. There's a line about hearing her mother in her voice and her father in her laugh, and that really stuck with me. It's such a small detail, but it says so much about how we carry the people we love with us. The outro is free and unfiltered, like she just needed to let it out.

“Run Run Run” feels like a love letter to who you used to be and who you are still becoming. It's messy, sweet, honest, and totally worth a listen.
