Asking Alexandria brought their ‘All My Friends’ tour to Piedmont Hall in Greensboro, NC this past Tuesday evening. As it turns out, their “friends” were good friends to have, making up the incredibly stacked lineup of Memphis May Fire, The Word Alive, and Archers. Piedmont Hall's intimate setting only added to the excitement.
Kicking off the evening was Archers from Madison, WI. Their metalcore cover of “The Hills” by The Weeknd put them on the map in 2015 and they’ve been on the rise ever since. The quartet has shared the stage with some notable names, with tonight being no exception.
Next up was post-hardcore band The Word Alive. Founded in 2008 and currently fronted by Telle Smith, the band is also composed of Jose DelRio and Daniel Nelson. Their performances was nothing short of electrifying as Telle effortlessly got the crowd riled up and ready for the evening ahead.
Does Memphis May Fire even need an introduction? Or its iconic frontman, Matty Mullins? The four-piece metalcore band have been active since 2006 and have released seven studio albums. Their fourth album, Unconditional, actually debuted at #4 on the Billboard Top 200, which shows how profound their influence has been on the genre from the start. The room truly came alive for MMF and the crowd-surfing went wild. There was even a kid in a wheelchair crowd-surfing!
Finally, it was time for metalcore legends Asking Alexandria to take the stage. Their discography boasts nine full-length studio albums, with the first two arguably being what first put Sumerian Records on the map. While their sound has matured over time, they are definitely still one of the greats, and the evening was sure to be filled with classics.
We heard vocalist Danny Worsnop before we saw him. As he began singing, we all looked for him. When he appeared, the audience rose to a deafening roar. His charisma was undeniable as he commanded the audience with ease.
The setlist was a well-crafted mix of old and new, with fan favorites like “If You Can’t Ride Two Horses at Once… You Should Get Out of the Circus” and “Alone in a Room.” The band members delivered each note flawlessly, which was a true testament to their musicianship.
This was an unforgettable evening of metalcore mayhem and you do not want to miss out on this tour if they’re coming anywhere near you!
