Self-proclaimed “Renegade Pop” band Beauty School Dropout is on the rise, and if you’re looking for a band that’s backed by some of the biggest names in pop-punk’s history, they’re the band for you.

Their story so far:

Beauty School Dropout came to be in 2020, forming out of a solo project that vocalist Cole Hutzler was working on following his previous band’s ending, eventually teaming up with bassist Brent (Beepus) Burdett, producer/guitarist Bardo Novotny, and later on, drummer Colton Flurry. They were destined to be a name to watch out for from the start, having help from FEVER 333’s Jason Butler, and Green Day/My Chemical Romance’s producer Rob Cavallo for their debut EP “Boys Do Cry” in 2021. Beauty School Dropout also had some pretty notable names encouraging and mentoring them from the beginning - Travis Barker of Blink-182 and Pete Wentz of Fall Out Boy, to be specific.

Since their formation, the band has been lucky to open for many well-known names in the scene, including Blink-182, Maggie Lindemann, Jaden Hossler, and PVRIS. They’ve also appeared at highly popular festivals such as Leeds Festival in 2022, Download Festival and Lollapalooza in 2023, and So What Music Festival in 2024. Just this past weekend, they tore up the Vans’ Warped Tour reunion stage - and if you missed them there, don’t worry, you'll be able to catch them at both other cities this summer and fall.

What they’re up to:

Beauty School Dropout has a busy summer ahead of them, thanks to being one of the 7 acts that are a part of Idobi Radio’s Summer School Fest. The band is will also be playing Warped Tour in Washington D.C. and Long Beach, CA. The Summer School festival hits 23 stops across the United States and is jam-packed with great up-and-coming artists that you’ll want to be sure to check out. On top of all the touring this summer, Beauty School Dropout just announced last week they’ll be releasing their full-length album, “Where Did All The Butterflies Go?” on September 5th, which you can pre-order on their website. Can we expect another tour this fall to go along with it? We don't know yet, obviously, but I’d like to stay optimistic that there’s still more to come out of the group this year.

The Album will feature the following tracks:

Track 1. FEVER

Track 2. TWO OF US

Track 3. ON YOUR LIPS

Track 4. SICK PUPPY

Track 5. XXX

Track 6. ADELINE (SAVE SOME FOR THE REST OF US)

Track 7. CITY NEVER SLEEPS

Track 8. MADONNA

Track 9. HEART AWAY

Track 10. DADDY DON’T CRY

Track 11. SEX APPEAL

Track 12. LMTFA

Track 13. HOW COULD I FORGET

Track 14. WHERE DID ALL THE BUTTERFLIES GO?

What you should listen to:

Perhaps the best starting place for their music is their latest single, “FEVER,” which was released last Friday, and will be featured on their next album. Other personal favorites of mine include “ON YOUR LIPS” and “beautiful waste”. You should also be sure to check out their biggest hits, “A$$A$$IN” and “WE MADE PLANS AND GOD LAUGHED,” because like every band’s biggest hits, they’re popular for a reason.
