American pop duo, Cafune, hailing from New York City, was formed in 2014 and consists of Sedona Schat and Noah Yoo. Growing up in different states, on the opposite side of the U.S., the two met in college while attending New York University.
Cafune has been opening up for Luke Hemmings on the U.S leg of his tour, Nostalgia for a Time That Never Existed, which started in Chicago on March 21, 2024. Cafune played two sold out crowds at The 9:30 Club in Washington, DC on May 26 and May 27, 2024. The 9:30 Club originally opened in 1980 and moved to its current location in 1996. Since its move to 815 V Street NW, artists such as Bob Dylan, Radiohead, and The Foo Fighters have had the pleasure of performing on the 9:30 Club stage and now, Cafune has gotten to play two sold out shows on the very same stage.
I had the pleasure of watching their performances both nights in a row, where I also discovered these were hometown shows for Yoo. It is always special when you see an artist play in their hometown, as there is an extra layer of excitement and energy buzzing through the venue. When the crowd was made aware of the hometown connections, cheers and applause were heard throughout the audience. At that moment, everyone seemed to understand this was a significant performance for Cafune and continued to show their support for the rest of the set.

Sedona’s smooth, melodic vocals resonated throughout the venue and set the perfect tone for Luke to continue entertaining the crowd, while Yoo’s masterful guitar playing was a delight for the entire act. Cafune finished out their set with a rendition of their viral Tik Tok song “Tek It” and “Friction,” closing out a captivating performance by the duo and their touring band.
