Charlotte Sands - Artist Spotlight

By Ashlyn Siples | June 1st, 2025

If you haven’t heard of her yet, let it be known that Charlotte Sands is a blue-haired, “unstoppable force” (as per Alternative Press), pop-punk icon in the making, and she isn’t going to be slowing down anytime soon. She’s aiming to create a safe space for everyone to feel comfortable in their weirdness and diversity, and her fans are proud to say that she’s been successful in this for them.

Her story so far:

Like every “overnight” success story, there’s a history to the artist, and Charlotte Sands’ story starts off at age 18 when she stole her mom’s car and moved to Nashville from her hometown in Massachusetts with a roommate she met on Craigslist. Her plans of taking a year off before heading to Berklee College of Music never happened, but she began making her way into the scene during lockdown in 2020. She dropped quite a few singles at this time, all of which were produced in her bedroom. The leak of her single “Dress,” written about Harry Styles’ iconic Vogue cover, rose in popularity within just hours, quickly becoming an anthem of self-expression and has amassed over 59 million streams on Spotify to date.

She’s had a chance to open for quite a few artists that you’re sure to have heard of before - 5 Seconds of Summer, The Band CAMINO, PVRIS, and more. Her debut album “Can We Start Over” was released last January, spotlighting Sands’ confidence to make music for herself and letting go of the pressure from what others expected of her. Shortly after the release of the album, she kicked off a worldwide headlining tour. She had notable festival appearances in 2024 as well, playing All Your Friends fest that featured notable names such as Fall Out Boy and The All-American Rejects, and the iconic Download Festival over in the United Kingdom.

What she’s up to:

2025 is set to be a big year for Charlotte Sands, spending her summer as one of the 7 acts on Idobi Radio’s Summer School Tour. She’s also got separate festival appearances at Let's Go! Music Festival in Maryland, as well as Warped Tour in Orlando this fall. On top of these exciting performances, she’s already releasing new music, with a new single “Hush” coming out on June 6th.

What to listen to:

For starters, you should obviously listen to the song that kicked off Sands’ career (“Dress” if you’ve forgotten it already). I also like her popular, screw them all anthem “Spite” as well as “Good Now” and “Nothing’s Even Wrong,” if you’re taking my personal opinions. She’s also got collabs with bands such as Underoath, The Maine, Taking Back Sunday, and Kellin Quinn from Sleeping With Sirens, so if you’re a fan of one of those bands, then their collabs could be a great place for you to start!
