On November 15th, David Shaw brought his Take A Look Inside tour to Denver's Summit Music Hall, delivering a night packed with heart, energy, and unforgettable moments.

Leah Blevins started the night with a short but impactful 30-minute set that showcased her incredible vocal prowess and country roots. Accompanied with just her guitar, she performed a series of songs that emanated warmth and authenticity. Tracks like “First Time Feeling,” an ode to dedication in relationships, and “I Ain’t Good” allowed her voice to shine with a raw power that was as vulnerable as it was commanding. Her tone, reminiscent of Dolly Parton, paired with her old-soul demeanor, captivated the audience. Leah’s sweet personality and undeniable talent left the crowd ready for what was to come.

David Shaw, widely recognized as the frontman of The Revivalists, embraced his solo artistry with a performance that blended blues, indie rock, and a touch of funk. From the moment he stepped on stage, Shaw’s raspy, emotionally charged voice and magnetic presence commanded attention. The setlist featured a mix of introspective ballads and high-energy anthems. Highlights included tracks from his Take A Look Inside album, such as the heartfelt “When You Love Somebody,” as well as fan favorites like the harmony-laden “Promised Land” from his earlier works.

Shaw’s ability to connect with the audience was a defining feature of the night. He brought moments of intimacy by sitting at the edge of the stage during vulnerable songs like “Arms of the River” and dancing among the crowd during the lively “Something to This Feeling.” A playful twist came when he swapped “Alabama” for “Colorado” in the chorus of one of his songs, earning cheers from the Denver crowd.

Instrumentally, the band shone brightly, with standout moments like soulful guitar solos and unexpected funk undertones in “I Can Hear You (Calling on Me).” The synths added a modern edge, particularly in the more groove-driven tracks. A cover of David Bowie’s “Heroes” was a nostalgic highlight, transforming the room into a united choir of voices.

The night closed with a stellar encore, featuring the crowd-belting “Soulfight” and the euphoric “Got Me Feeling Good,” which left everyone buzzing. Shaw’s heartfelt energy and undeniable talent made the show unforgettable. While the venue wasn’t sold out, Shaw and his band delivered a performance worthy of a packed house.

David Shaw’s Take A Look Inside tour is a testament to his artistry, his knack for storytelling, and his ability to forge meaningful connections with his audience. Whether you’re listening to his music on a quiet mountain morning or experiencing it live, Shaw’s sound captures something timeless and personal. For those seeking a soulful, electrifying concert experience, this tour is a must-see. Denver, on that chilly November night, was lucky to be part of Shaw’s journey—and I, for one, walked away a new fan.
