The Wrecks are an indie-pop-rock band based in California with over 670,000 monthly Spotify listeners and over 8 million streams. You may know them from their hit songs “Favorite Liar” or “Fvck Somebody”. They also just released a new single titled “Always, Everytime.”

This past Saturday, The Wrecks made a pit stop at the Cobra Lounge in Chicago. The small dive bar has a 200-cap music hall to give fans an exclusive intimate experience with the band as they grow in popularity and play bigger venues. The band is heading out on a full length North American tour in early 2025 as well.

Starting off the night was Reyna, a Milwaukee-based band whose blend of pop and heartfelt indie rock warmed up the crowd for the evening. The crowd welcomed them to the stage with open arms and were engaged with their whole set. Its always nice to see a crowd enjoying the opener and genuinely enjoying their music! Though the crowd was still trickling in, Reyna did a fantastic job of engaging the room, delivering songs with a blend of playfulness and confidence. Reyna's set was the perfect warm-up, with their smooth energy setting a nice contrast to the high energy that was to come with The Wrecks.

When The Wrecks hit the stage, the room erupted with excitement. With their catchy melodies and undeniable energy, they wasted no time getting the crowd jumping up and down.  Lead singer Nick Anderson was cracking jokes and interacting with the audience the whole night, and at one point left the stage to sing along with the crowd from the middle of the pit.

The Wrecks’ fun indie rock sound and their high energy kept the fans on their toes all night. The intimate venue really made the excited energy in the air palpable. The fans that did manage to score tickets to this tour were clearly dedicated. Fans showed up in their marathon running attire, as the title of the tour suggests. Runners' numbers, running shorts, headbands and sweatbands could be spotted on much of the audience, and some sweatbands and paper numbers even littered the floor after the show.

Overall both bands put on a great show for the small space they were in and you can never really go wrong with a solid dive bar show. I'm excited to see where the band's rising popularity takes them next!
