Enter “Fantasyland” with Moody Joody in their latest single

Moody Joody dropped their new song “Fantasyland” on August 5th; the tune is the fifth single from their upcoming debut album Plain Jane, coming October 30th. The song follows the drop of their song “Suburbia” in June.
If you’re looking for either a tune to add to your romantic fantasy Spotify playlist or a soundtrack for your BookTok content, this is it. The song was composed and written by the group's members: Andrew Pacheco, Kayla Hall, and Kaitie Forbes, alongside Scott Harris.

The first line of the song begins with Hall and Forbes crooning about their partners and how they are catered to and admired. The tone shifts to portray that these thoughts are in their imagination rather than reality, singing “I’m caught up in delusions, sick on love potion, devotion.” The Nashville-based group continues to tell the tale of the imaginary world they’re enveloped in. The lyrics state “I’m so good at lying, lying in fantasyland,” which serves as a double entendre: lying as in lying in the clouds of their imaginary world, and lying as in telling a false tale, recognized as fantasy. The double entendre is confirmed in the second versewith the line “I’m pining and white lying”.
“One of my favorite things about this song is the double meaning of the phrase ‘lying in my Fantasyland” said Hall, according to a press release from MUSES PR.
“Fantasyland” nods to mystical stories like Aladdin with the line “Genie in a bottle make a wish”. The lyrics illustrate the girls coming to understand the state of euphoria they are in; this is depicted in lines like “I got my head in the clouds, I’m never coming down” and “I’m living in bliss, magic kiss”. Despite the simulated realm being unrealistic and not easily obtainable, they give in hopelessly to oblivion.
Stated in a MUSES PR press release, Hall recalled a conversation with her therapist saying, “I had been caught up in a toxic cycle with an ex and she candidly told me I was living in “Fantasyland in regards to thinking the dynamic was going to change”.
Moody Joody are set to play The Maine’s 8123 Fest in January; this follows them opening for the band this past Spring.
