Canadian electronic pop duo Purity Ring, formed in 2010 by Megan James and Corin Roddick, brought their “Place of My Own” tour to Delmar Hall in St. Louis, on May 16, 2026. The pair delivered a performance that felt less like a standard concert and more like an immersive experience. Throughout the night Purity Ring transformed the intimate venue into a holographic style of visuals and immersive lighting. Their giant projections and shifting lights that move in sync with the intensity of their music, makes each song and moment feel almost surreal. Rather than distracting from the music, the visuals amplified the emotions for every track.

The opening act for the night was MMJ, the solo project of Megan James who recently began performing her debut solo material. MMJs set leaned towards a more intimate setting. Every song was acoustic, and featured either her original songs or covers. Her song choices highlighted her soft vocals and emotional songwriting. The stripped down and relaxed performance was a good way to interact with fans and build up anticipation to the main show of the night.

One of the stand out parts of the show was the sense of care and community that surrounded the entire night of the show. Not only was the crew welcoming and friendly, but the crowd itself created a relaxed and respectful atmosphere. The overall vibe of the concert is to encourage fans to stay present in the moment and to interact with each other rather than just attending a show. Upon entering Delmar Hall, attendees were given a complimentary Purity Ring branded KN95 mask, and there was also a charm booth where you can decorate your own mask. Even years after the pandemic, the continuation of this practice demonstrates the band's commitment to creating a safe and inclusive environment. It not only protects the fans, but also helps maintain the health of the crew and performers.

The show moved seamlessly between aggressive electronic pieces, and quieter moments. The shifts between the energies kept the audience engaged throughout the night and never allowed the show to lose momentum. By the end of the night Purity Ring had achieved something that many performances fail to achieve: creating a performance that is immersive from beginning to end. The show became more than just hearing songs performed live; it felt more about stepping into a carefully crafted visual world for nearly two hours. Their St. Louis' performance proved why the duo continue to stand out from other artists, especially in such an intimate setting.
