Devon Again WOWs With Her New Surprise Double Song Release of Snake The Drain and This Time It's Different

by Kelsie Barlow | June 8th, 2026

On June 2nd, Devon Again released her long anticipated song snake the drain along with a surprise second sister song this time it’s different. Much like the people vs Maryanne Sue and lover, these two songs cleverly play off each other lyrically, and pair to make an addicting sonic diptych. Snake the drain is a spunky pop-rock song that talks about how love isn’t enough in a domestic partnership. Devon sings “Love don't get me to work on time. Love don't keep the linens white, oh love don't make you mean it, baby. Much as I love you, love don't. Love don't make my coffee strong. Love don't keep the power on, oh love don't go and make me beg.

You want me to beg?” This playful bridge is a middle finger to partners who don’t pull their weight, and leave the other needing more support. In contrast this time it’s different is more of a love song that utilizes Devon’s singnatured layered harmonies found in other hits like skittles and cherry cola. In the chorus Devon sings “This time, it's different. I wanna make my kitchen our kitchen. I'd hang the linens, we'd sleep in late and then wake up kissin'. Come on, admit it. What could go wrong if we're both all in it? This time it's different. My god, I swear this time it's different.” Using clever callbacks to the big dog and linens mentioned in snake the drain, she flips the meaning of the song on its head yearning for a shared love, and seeing reciprocal effort.

These two songs are a perfect push and pull that let fans hear two different sides of the same coin that’s keeping us on our toes in anticipation for even more new music. Snake the drain is Devon’s first release being signed to Dan Nigro’s Amusement Records, in partnership with Interscope Records. Fans are hoping this is just a warm up as a debut full length album is anticipated. Devon Again will set out on Olivia Rodrigo’s “Unraveled Tour”, opening on select dates aside notable acts like Wolf Alice, The Last Dinner Party, Grace Ives, and Die Spitz. I’ve been following Devon Again’s music for about 3 years, and from the second I heard her music, I was sure that she would receive her flowers someday. It feels like Devon is on the brink of pop-stardom, and as a long time fan, I’m elated to see what amazing things she’ll do in her career.

Devon Again will be opening on the Unraveled Tour starting on November 7th in Philadelphia PA and ending on February 28th in Brooklyn NY. All dates of this long-awaited arena tour are sold-out. Devon Again has continuously proved herself as one to watch, and I plan on continuing to do just that.
