Twenty One Pilots Release "Drumshow", The Second Single Off Their Upcoming Album "Breach"

by Kelsie Barlow | September 10th, 2025

Twenty One Pilots fans have been sitting with excitement and anticipation since the two-piece released The Contract, the first single off their upcoming album Breach. However, on August 18th, the band further pumped up fans with the release of their second single, "Drum Show." This song features a bass riff reminiscent of their song "Next Semester," which was on their 2024 album, Clancy. The song also had fans shocked with a vocal section sung by drummer Josh Dunn. This is his first time having recorded vocals on a track, but Dunn started singing a section of Paladin Strait during the Clancy Tour. Drum Show is a hard-hitting track that touches on mental health, featuring a fan favorite scream from Tyler. This track has fans foaming at the mouth and on the edge of their seats for the album's release on 9/12. As a Twenty One Pilots fan of over 10 years myself, their last album and their two most recent singles are some of the most emotionally provocative songs they’ve released yet. Clancy and Breach feel like a mature version of their sound, while still sticking to their roots of fusing genres and creating their own distinct space in music.

Alongside the single release, Twenty One Pilots put out a music video that fully encapsulates the vibe of the song. Filmed in front of a van with stark lighting using primary colors. Not only do I think the musicality of Drum Show is similar to Next Semester, but I also feel that the music video confirms that these are sister songs. Both songs and videos touch on themes of cars and driving, and tell the story of both Tyler's and Josh’s mental health. I love the simplicity of the video and how it helps to let the story of the song shine, while providing fun and energetic visuals for fans. The band will be touring the new album at amphitheaters across the U.S this fall. Breach is out Friday, September 12th, and this single has only fueled the excitement of the fanbase as we prepare for this album to wrap up the storyline of Dema that started over a decade ago.
