Zayn Sells Out First Ever Solo Tour: Stairway To The Sky Tour
by Nyah Lin | September 18th, 2024
Zayn kicked off Wednesday morning with a formal announcement of his return to the stage: the Stairway to the Sky Tour. This is Zayn’s first ever headline tour set to start this October across the US and UK. Fans who tuned into The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon got a sneak peak of his exciting news. Replicating his album announcement from March, Zayn dropped an envelope and walked backstage for Fallon to reveal the message.
Zayn Malik, formerly of One Direction, recently put out his 4th studio album titled Room Under The Stairs this past May. The album showcased 15 songs including fan favorites such as What I Am, Alienated and Stardust. The sound in this album stands out from his previous work, experimenting in different genres than his iconic R&B/pop feel, drifting a little towards country. What’s definite about this album is that it is truly his. Zayn wrote and produced this album himself, collaborating with Dave Cobb and Daniel Zaidenstadt. When asked about his new genre he responds, “it’s just me, you know? Like it’s just music that I like listening to and my influences so I'd say this is Zayn’s genre” (Zayn on the Zach Sang Show)
The Stairway To The Sky Tour will be Zayn’s first return to the headlines in almost a decade since leaving One Direction. Starting off in the US on October 23rd, he’s hitting San Francisco, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Washington D.C., and wrapping up in New York. In November and December he’ll be in Edinburgh, Leeds, Manchester, London, Wolverhampton, and Newcastle. Due to high demand since the announcement, extra dates have been added in Los Angeles, New York, Edinburgh, London, Manchester, and Leeds.
Tickets sales were divided into 3 different times: vip presale, fan presale, and general public onsale. Presales were separated through Thursday morning and public sale opened Saturday morning. All 3 sold out almost immediately after going on sale with the whole tour selling out in under 10 minutes of the general onsale after just a week of being announced. Zayn posted on his instagram story a simple “Thank you” to his fans who bought tickets.
