On Saturday, June 21st Australian folk artist Ziggy Alberts played in Florida for the first time ever as the second to last stop on the US leg of his 2025 world tour. Though Alberts is no stranger to touring the US, Florida has never been a stop that he’s made up until he took on Jannus Live in St. Petersburg, followed by a show in Miami the next night. Even from just doors being open, you can tell that Florida fans were excited to finally get a chance to see him perform. During his set, he noted that some fans have been traveling to various different states just to see him and finally got the chance to see him in their own home state, making this an extra-special show of the tour.

To start the night off, Australian indie artist Steph Strings got the crowd warmed up. The artist noted that touring with Ziggy Alberts was her first time in the US, and thanked fans for showing up early to hear her set. Her sound, influenced by artists like Alberts himself, easily captivated fans as they clapped and danced along. Uniquely, some songs the artist played were entirely acoustic and percussive, but captured the audience just the same as the songs that had lyrics. With a wide smile and great conversation with the group, Strings’ stage presence was enough to note that although she considers herself a small artist, she deserves to have a path opener for her to grow; and it wouldn’t be surprisingly at all if unexpected Ziggy Alberts fans left as new-founded Steph Strings fans that night.

After Strings concluded her set, it was time for the main act, Ziggy Alberts, to finally take the stage. The stage was set with a square platform in the middle and a beautiful, mountain-like background that felt homey and welcoming. Once he took stage, Alberts opened with “Days in the Sun”, a hit from 2014 album “Land & Sea”, so it wasn’t surprising that fans immediately sang along with him. The fully acoustic set was played mostly from the platform, not only giving fans a great few but also keeping the home-like feel. As the night continued, Alberts gave focus to new album “New Love”, playing the title track as well as others from the record such as “Where Does the Love Go?” but also cycled in older, crowd favorites such as “heartbeat” and even brought his guitar and microphone into the crowd for hit “Gone (The Pocahontas Song)”, gathering a loud-singing crowd around him in the center of the venue. Alberts also covered “Complicated” by Avril Lavgine which he recently released on spotify, and even debuted a new song “Boomerang” that is currently unreleased.

As the night continued, fans were dancing and singing together and were clearly enjoying having the Australian artist in Florida for the first time. He stopped often to thank the crowd, make some jokes, and make sure they knew they were appreciated for showing up. As the night came to a close, Alberts performed one of his top hits “Runaway” which has fans loudly singing along, even though some technical difficulties, filling the venue with the chorus of the song. Alberts concluded with an encore and ended with “Laps Around the Sun”, bringing his first-ever (but not last) Florida show to a close. It was clear that he wanted to make this first-in-Florida a great one for his fans, and it was even clearer that the night was everything the fans had hoped it would be.
