9 LGBTQ+ Musicians You Should Listen To
By Ashlyn Siples | June 29th, 2025
Musicians who are members of the LGBTQ+ community are not a new phenomenon in the scene (regardless of what some newspapers may claim), thanks to the many hardworking individuals over the past few decades who paved the way and established new, more inclusive mindsets in the music industry. But, with names like Chappel Roan, Lil Nas X, Reneé Rapp, and Troye Sivan in headlining slots of music festivals, there’s no doubt that right now is a time that queer musicians are making an even bigger name in the industry not only for themselves, but for the community as a whole. And of course, there’s more than just those who’ve made it big in the scene that are a part of the LGBTQ+ community, which is why we’re here today to introduce you to some more artists that you should keep an eye on, or perhaps add to your playlist.
Omar Rudberg via Dama Studios
Omar Rudberg is one of the names on this list that you’ve probably heard of before, thanks to his phenomenal acting in the Netflix TV Series “Young Royals.” But outside of acting, he’s previously been part of a boy band, FO&O, and has more recently been diving into his solo music career. If you’re someone who’s felt out of place but you don’t want to fit into everyone else’s boxes, consider listening to his song “I’m Not A Boy.”
Artio is an electronic-infused alt-rock quartet hailing from Leeds, England. Their music encapsulates the emotions tied into the trans experience and queer rage. Their latest single, “Split Soul,” is another powerful anthem that touches on the themes they’ve built their music career around.
CHRØMERA is a queer punk band born out of a different band, and they’re brand new on the scene. In fact, their debut single “Save Urself” dropped just this week. If you’ve ever wanted to be a fan of a band since almost day one, here’s your chance.
Pollyanna via DIMM Entertainment
Pollyanna is a trans-masc nonbinary fronted pop punk band from New Jersey. With a growing following in the tri-state area and far beyond, they hope to win you over with their eclectic blend of bubble grunge, punk, and power pop. Their upcoming queer anthem “Boygirl” releases on July 9th - just after pride month ends because they want to remind people to stay loud about their existence all the time and not just in June.
If you’re looking for another maximalist, 80s-inspired pop artist to add to your mix, Caroline Kingsbury is just the one for you. She makes emotional, dramatic music that encourages you to accept who you are and express yourself. Her latest single, “Shock Treatment,” is a flip on the script of this world’s conversion therapy, aiming to reveal the absurdity of this kind of “treatment.”
Another up-and-coming gaypop artist is Devon Again, and her sound is unique just to her, thanks to her love of hyperpop music. Her music is a way for her to subconsciously channel what’s bothering her and express it from a new perspective. She enjoys the fact she’s managed to put together a mostly queer audience of listeners, and is happy knowing she’s helping to build a safe community for others.
Pinkshift via Leigh Ann Rodgers
Another trans-masc fronted grunge punk band on the list, Pinkshift, has been steadily gaining popularity over the past couple of years. The upcoming album focuses on finding your way in a world that’s built to work against you just because of who you are, and the necessity of helping yourself before you can help others when you’re running on empty.
If you’re a fan of musicians such as Madonna, Beyonce, Little Mix, or Dua Lipa - there’s a good chance you’re already in touch with MNEK, as he’s produced some of the former’s songs, as well as many others on top of that. But production isn’t all MNEK does, as he’s got his solo music career on top of it all. He also takes strides to support fellow LGBTQ+ musicians in the scene, previously hosting writing camps for those that may not have gotten a chance to work with other members of the community before and inspire a new generation of queer songwriting.
Last, but certainly not least, on our list is electro-pop artist Boy Jr. They find their music to be yet another way to expand their self-expression, and show others they can be more than locked into just one lane, like a lot of the world expects them to be. And their creative process is nothing but unique; in fact, they used their own HRT supplies to make the beats for one of their most recent songs, “Zitty Stardust.”
