Some shows make you forget about the outside world, even if just for a little while—and on Wednesday night, Denver was completely swept off its feet by Myles Smith’s performance during his “We Were Never Strangers” Tour at Mission Ballroom.

Tors:

Opening the night was UK trio Tors, made up of Matt Weedon (lead vocals, guitar), Theo Weedon (backing vocals, guitar), and Jack Bowden (banjo, drums, piano, backing vocals). Their performance was a perfect, heartfelt introduction to the evening. The setup was simple—two acoustic guitars and a banjo—but the sound they created was warm, rich, and full.

Their harmonies filled the room beautifully. It’s the kind of music you’d want playing on a scenic drive through the mountains. Between songs, their banter was light, funny, and effortlessly charming—earning plenty of laughs (especially the classic jokes about Denver’s altitude). Songs like “Anything Can Happen” and “Never Give Up” quickly became crowd favorites.

Their performance was the perfect complement to Myle Smith’s headlining set–different in style but equal in heart. I wouldn’t be surprised if some of the concert-goers that night became instant fans that night, if they weren’t already. And great news for Denver fans–Tors will be coming back in October for their own headlining tour.

Myles Smith:

When Myles Smith took the stage, he brought a different kind of magic—one that immediately captivated the entire room. His energy was infectious, his personality shined through with every lyric and note. Right away, he reminded us that a Myles Smith show isn’t just about him—it’s about everyone in the room. “This is mutual ground,” he said. It’s up to everyone on creating this amazing, welcoming atmosphere.

Each of his songs, whether new or well-known favorites like “Nice to Meet You” resonated with the audience. Singing along to the words, the crowd sounded like one collective voice. Everyone was moved to their feet as people of all ages danced to the music. Myles’ banter between songs was humorous, charming and vulnerable at times as he told stories about his life and music. One of the most unforgettable moments came when he invited a fan onstage for a free throw challenge—if they made the shot, they’d win tickets to one of his future shows.

Production-wise, the show was stunning. Lighting shifted to match the mood of each song, and spotlights followed each band member during solos, giving them a moment to shine. Overhead, strung lights created a warm, whimsical glow that made the massive venue feel wonderfully intimate. It was clear that every detail of the performance was thought through, without ever feeling forced.

By the end of the night, Myles had every single person on their feet. When he played “My Home” for his encore, the entire crowd sang along. And just as the crowd thought the show was over, Myles came down into the audience and continued to sing “My Home”. It was such a raw, special moment of the night, and one concert-goers won’t forget. It wasn’t just a concert, it was a night of connection, joy, and music that made everyone in the room feel a little more seen, a little less alone.
